Biomaterials and Regenerative Medicine
|
| Dr. Christmans research interests and expertise focus on the regeneration of injured and diseased cardiovascular tissues in vivo by making use of polymer chemistry and nanotechnology methods to develop novel biomaterials for tissue implantation and cell delivery. Dr. Christmans doctoral research was the first to recognize that appropriate biopolymers alone can affect post-myocardial infarction remodeling, both highlighting the importance of the physical and chemical properties of polymer scaffolds on tissue healing and showing the need for non-cellular controls in assessing the effects of cell-based therapies for myocardial infarction in vivo. |
