PURPOSE: The Open Innovation Matrix is intended to illustrate the department's open collaboration and partnerships with investigators and organizations having common interests and complementary expertise, so that we can work together on new avenues of discovery, hypothesis testing, design, development and translation.

The rows of the matrix refer to core competencies within the department's three major research themes: multi-scale bioengineering, regenerative medicine, and systems biology. The columns list medical applications. The number in parentheses refers to the number of projects in our database associated with each particular core competency and medical application.
